There would be no Choate Rosemary Hall today had it not been for the vision and hard work of George St. John and his son Seymour. Father and son ran and built the school from 1908 until 1973. Rosemary Hall, the girls' school, flourished in Greenwich for a time then came back to unite with Choate, the boys' school in 1971. Set on over 450 acres of Connecticut land north of New Haven, the school now enjoys a reputation as one of the finest private college preparatory schools in America.
Notable alumni include President John F. Kennedy, Edward Albee and Adlai Stevenson.
