
While a certain amount of homework helps kids solidify what they learn in school and develops their skills, too much homework can be hurtful in ways experts are only beginning to understand. Beyond the recommended amount of ten minutes in first grade and ten minutes for each grade beyond that, homework begins to prevent kids from carrying out the kinds of play and social activities that help them learn in other ways and that help them develop emotional skills.
