Special Needs Schools Offer Skills and Experience
I had lived in Litchfield County, Connecticut where the Forman School is located. One of the leaders in special needs education Forman had, and still does as far as I know, has superb, highly skilled faculty. These were professionals who had certification in all kinds of learning disorders. They knew how to remediate even the most severe conditions. When I thought about their vast experience and my total lack of it, I knew how ill-equipped I was to teach the student my headmistress insisted I 'do something with'.
Where am I going with this? Simply, if you are told that your child has ADD or dyslexia, don't deny it. Do something about it. Go to the experts and seek counsel. Ensure that your child gets the expert instruction she deserves in a school setting which will support and encourage her.

To start I’m a very concerned mother in the aspect of a child that to me has behavioral issues in his school. I’ve tried counseling activities and been a long term battle for 3yrs. I’m at the point where I’m lost don’t know what step to take next the school constantly is suspending him for this and it’s frustrating his 10 an I’m don’t want it to excalate more where the issues become more survire so if anyone please could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated
So stressed mrs. v
You do not say if the child has a learning difference such as ADD. Perhaps you need to have a professional evaluate him. Then you can chart a course of action.
It is for the good of your child, after all. His future success and happiness depend on it.
Ms. Vargas, in reading your comment my heart pours out to you. My child is severely ADHD, as a result has always attended private schools specifically designed to serve children with learning disorders. I believe these schools are the best opportunity for children with such disorders. I recognize that many tout inclusive classrooms but no one ever raves about the reality of children being mean and regular ed teachers not knowing what to do with the child. Many times children with learning disorders grow up having self esteem issues as a result of the many teachers and students who just did not understand them over the years. I say, pay the tuition now or end up paying for years of therapy later.
Please at least take a look at the Private Schools for learning disorders in your area. Many areas have at least two to choose from and currently there are many high schools and colleges being added to the list dependent on your childs’ needs. Whatever you do, just please do something! When you have a child with a learning disorder you are not just their parent but you are their best advocate for the services they need.
