Military Schools

Comments: New York Military Academy is a fully accredited, small military boarding school located about an hour from New York City on the beautiful Hudson River. NYMA was founded in 1889. The program includes JROTC, a college prep academic curriculum and a wide variety of sports. NYMA graduates matriculate to colleges and universities at home and abroad.

Comments: Oak Ridge Military Academy was founded in 1852. It was first accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1899. Oak Ridge prepares its students for college and life. Its JROTC program provides the kind of military discipline and leadership training you expect from a fine, old military school.

Comments: Riverside Military Academy was founded in 1906. It offers a rigorous academic college preparatory program for some 300 young men. Supporting that program is the Center for Student Excellence where students learn time-management and organizational skills of great value in their later lives. The Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is situated an hour north of Atlanta.

Comments: Randolph-Macon Academy offers a structured and challenging environment that encourages spiritual, moral, academic and social growth. It offers Air Force Junior ROTC in addition to the usual military training in the high school division. The middle school division challenges students with a solid foundational program of instruction without the demands of a military program. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Comments: Robert Land Academy was founded in 1978. It gives young men a challenging and stimulating high school experience in the military school tradition. In addition it claims to have had success with boys who are not working to their potential or who have been diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Learning Delayed.

Comments: Saint Catherine's Military Academy was founded in 1889. It accepts boarders as young as 4th grade and is the only elementary school with a military tradition. The Academy is owned and operated by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Comments: Saint Thomas Academy gives young men a challenging and stimulating high school experience designed to provide a solid foundation for achievements in later life. The Academy was founded in 1885 by Archbishop John Ireland. The curriculum is college preparatory. The school is located on a 72 acre campus near St. Paul.

Comments: TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas is a college preparatory school for co-ed students in grades 6-12. The school was founded in 1893 by the Diocese of West Texas. Graduates include General Douglass MacArthur, numerous other generals, college presidents, leaders in business, sitting Congressional representative Lamar Smith and other remarkable men and women. The school offers rigorous academic programs in addition to its military program, the Corps of Cadets.

Comments: Valley Forge Military Academy provides a variety of college preparatory courses designed to expand students' thinking and develop the skills necessary to succeed at college level studies. The Academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Contrary to what you might think, most of VFMA's graduates matriculate to colleges and universities as opposed to military schools. The Academy, of course, is well-positioned to help aspiring service academy candidates gain admission. The school is located outside Philadelphia.

Comments: Wentworth Military Academy is the oldest military school west of the Mississippi. It offers a solid college preparatory curriculum. Because it also has a college division on campus, students can avail themselves of all the enrichment that provides.
