In 1945 Georgetown Day School was an integrated school in a segregated city. Fast forward to 2004 and it is no surprise to find that GDS was awarded the designation as a Leading Edge School for Equity and Justice by the National Association of Independent Schools. Put another way, diversity is huge at GDS.
Academics:
The high school offers a full complement of academic courses including Advanced Placement.
Facilities:
The school occupies 2 five acre campuses in northwest Washington. The high school was recently renovated to include a performing arts complex and expanded athletic facilities.
Finances:
The school has an endowment of $7.5 million. It awarded about $900,000 in financial aid to students in 2007-2008.

GDS prepares its students for work at the best colleges and universities at home and abroad.
Commentary:
Diversity has been front and center at Georgetown Day School since its inception. Community service is a requirement for graduation. If you are looking for a DC coed day school, you need to put GDS on your list. It is a competitive school so make sure your child offers what the school is looking for.
