Did you receive a thin envelope telling you that your child's application was rejected? Do you know what to do next? Let's look at your options.

Accept Another Offer

If you followed our advice and made sure that there was a safe school on your short list, hopefully you can accept the offer of a place at that school.

Start the Search Process Again

If you applied only to schools which were a reach for your child and got rejected by all of them, then you will need to start all over again and find schools which accept applications on a rolling admissions basis. Schools with rolling admissions accept applicants until their available places are filled. How do you know which schools are still accepting applications? Start with the SCCA list which is posted in April for fall entry.

If you did use the services of an educational consultant the first time, you will save much heartache by doing so the second time. Educational consultants know their schools. They can find out your chances of getting your child in much more efficiently than you can.

The Difference Between Rejection and Waitlisting

There is a difference between a rejection and waitlist letter. Basically the rejection letter is final. There is no second chance. Waitlisting, on the other hand, is a second chance with a very simple caveat: the school puts your child on a waitlist and if there are places not taken by the reply date for the acceptance letters (usually April), then places are offered to applicants on the waitlist.
