How Can Private Schools Prevent Child Abuse?

In the wake of the Penn State sex scandal involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, it is clear that schools nationwide must re-evaluate their programs related to child abuse and put into place measures to prevent abuse. To that end, Dr. Anthony P. Rizzuto and Dr. Cynthia Crosson-Tower have written a book for the National Association of Independent Schools, or NAIS, entitled the Handbook on Child Safety for Independent School Leaders. This invaluable guide helps independent school administrators and teachers put into practice comprehensive plans to recognize and prevent child sexual and physical abuse, which unfortunately affect a staggering number of children nationwide each year.
