All of us involved with private schools have been waiting anxiously to see how the actual enrollment numbers would pan out for fall 2009. I am so grateful to Peter Baron at AdmissionsQuest for tweeting this encouraging news article. Private schools surviving the recession reports what's been going on in Colorado with a couple of local private schools. It's these smaller, day schools that I have really been concerned about. They provide an important service to the community, yet are exactly the institutions which are subject to the ebb and flow of the local economy. If parents lose their jobs, they cannot afford to send their children to private school. The schools are suddenly faced with last-minute vacancies which can be hard to fill. It is a relief to hear that things are looking up in the Roaring Fork Valley area of Colorado.
