Is Your Child Ready to Travel Solo?

From Robert Kennedy, About.com Guide   August 31, 2009

Follow me on:

It's almost time to head back to boarding school. You probably made the trip with her last year. But your circumstances have changed this year. It just makes more sense to put her on a plane in Atlanta knowing that she will arrive safely and be met by the school bus in Boston. Her trunks are already at school waiting for her, so baggage won't be a major issue.

No matter how often she has traveled with you, make sure that you review my Student Travel Tips with her. My two daughters were savvy travelers but I was always amazed at what could go wrong with flights and rides. Back then we didn't have cellphones either. Safe travel is travel planned with lots of options for issues and events which inevitably will arise.
