Who Does A Better Job Educating Your Child: A Private Or A Public School?

I am quoting this email verbatim. It is typical of the sort of questions which parents have about private schools.

"I AM THINKING OF SENDING MY CHILD TO A PRIVATE SCHOOL. I HAVE BEEN TALKING TO A PERSON WHO KEEPS ASKING ME TO PROVIDE THE DATA WHICH SAYS THAT PRIVATE ENTERPRISE DOES BETTER THAN GOVERNMENT IN RUNNING SCHOOLS AND HE IS VERY PERSISTENT. HIS HAMMERING AT ME IS CAUSING DOUBT, AND I MUST MAKE A DECISION SOON."

My reply: "Well, there is no data to support such a conclusion.

There are many reasons why you send your child to a private school. More courses in areas where your child excels, perhaps more extracurricular activities, and so on.
