Mid-year Admissions

Wednesday November 12, 2008
You have just been elected President of the United States. You will move into your new home in January 2009. You have to find a school for your daughters. Wait a minute! Because you are POTUS, you probably won't have much trouble convincing a school to take your children in the middle of the academic year.

But what about ordinary people like you and me? You have been posted in St. Louis for the last three years. The economy has tanked. You have been summoned to head office in New York to fix things. With immediate effect. Of course, the company will take care of finding housing, selling your old home, moving and so on. But what about the children? Just how easy is it to find places in a private school in Manhattan in the middle of the academic year? How do you know which school is the best one anyway? Mid-year admissions are not easy to pull off. But it can be done, even for ordinary people like us. Your next call is to an educational consultant. You will need one who knows the schools in your new location.
