Readers' Comments About Paddling

Wednesday July 30, 2008
I guess I hit a nerve with my blog The Paddles Are Back In Georgia! My blogs rarely get a comment. This one has drawn several, pro and con.

I have always been solidly against spanking, hitting, beating, strapping or any other form of physical abuse in schools. Period. Full stop. I believe sincerely and unequivocally that we must break the cycle of corporal punishment which seems to be a part of our American social fabric. Civilized countries simply do not beat children. No other first world country permits corporal punishment. So why does the United States? Read Should Beating Be Banned? Let's have a vigorous debate on the issue.
