7 States Pass Anti-Cyberbullying Laws
Sunday February 10, 2008
Good news in USA Today! States push for cyberbully controls describes how the relatively new phenomenon known as cyberbullying has attracted some serious legislative attention. Our children need to feel safe. At any time. In any setting. For my thoughts on the issue read Bullying Goes Electronic

that is not wright to pass it in seven states it should not be passed at all in any state.
you’d want your kid to be bullied? especially since it often leads to suicides? thats ok, that should be legal? i dont think so.
This law will stop 0 “cyberbullies” it will do nothing but create hype. How can you stop your kid from being a victim? 2 ways, get them off the ‘net, or TEACH THEM NOT TO BE VICTIMS. Make them strong enough that words posted on the internet will not make them want to end their life. If they do go that far, there was something wrong in the first place, placing the blame on the internet, or on some bully is dodging the issue. That kid was weak-willed, not the kid’s fault certainly, but if they were taught and trained to be a stronger person, it would not have happened.
The law will not stop cyberbullying which lawmakers are already aware of, it will give law enforcement officers the ability to do something about the bahavior. Previously there were no laws against this so when a grown women told a 13 year old girl that she should just go kill herself and that child did in fact kill herself the prosecuter had no law to enforce against the woman.
School aged children are very focused on reputation and what their peers think of them. That is a part of life and that does not mean that something is wrong with them. You can not teach a child about life and expect them to grasp it all. Even as adults we don’t completely understand life but we do understand that bullying doesn’t last forever. For middle and highschool students, school is life and today is forever to them and that pressure is what makes them feel like life is no longer worth living.
