Violence in our schools reflects the violence found throughout our society. If you are looking for answers to horrific events such as the shootings at Columbine or Red Lake or Virginia Tech, you don't have to look very deep into our core values and history to understand how and why this happened.
By far the most invidious influence is the entertainment industry. Read Marketing Violent Entertainment To Children. Then monitor what games your children play, what videos they watch and what music they listen to. Teach your children about violence and its causes yourself. Let your values, not the entertainment industry's values, dominate your child's thinking.
