Does Your School Have a Radio Station?

Monday November 13, 2006
Some of you know that I am a volunteer announcer at The Classical Station. I have been with the station since 1999. It is in fact one of the most rewarding volunteer activites which I have ever undertaken. I have my own show called Peaceful Reflections which airs Sunday evenings at 9 p.m. eastern time. I get to host and program the show, so it is a most felicitous experience. So what has this got to do with private schools, you may well ask?

Well, here's the deal: The Classical Station offers its signal free of charge to any non-commercial radio station which wants to rebroadcast it. To find out how your school can enjoy great classical music on its radio station contact Curtis Brothers, the Outreach Director. This might be the perfect solution for those long overnight hours when it would be nice to have some beautiful programming without all the staffing and programming issues you would face locally. And, did I say that it's free?!?

Looking for classical music resources? Aaron Green, About's Classical Music Guide, offers a comprehensive reference site. Happy listening!
