The Laptop Institute 2006
1:1 ComputingOne of the hottest summer conferences is The Laptop Institute held at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis. Whether you are a teacher or a technology administrator, you need to attend this important conclave. Why? Simply because portable computing has revolutionized the way we teach. We need to be in the vanguard (a classicist's term for 'being ahead of the curve") if we are going to prepare graduates for this incredibly fast-paced 21st century. The End of an Era
One of the great headmasters has died. Read the obituary of The Reverend Seymour St. John in the New York Times. He was head of Choate Rosemary Hall from 1947 until his retirement in 1973. Mr. St. John was 94 years old. When you read about the turbulent times through which Mr. St. John skilfully piloted his school, you will understand why I refer to him as one of the 'great' headmasters. His ilk will not be seen again. Rescquiat in pace.
