High School Hazing: Tradition or Illegal Activity?

Any time you have 'new' students entering a school, you should be on the alert for hazing. Why am I bringing this up in April? Because you need to be proactively educating your school community - staff and students alike - that hazing will not be tolerated. Period.

Besides the enormous legal exposure hazing generates, your school doesn't need the attendant negative publicity. Hazing is a Class B misdemeanor offence in many states. Most states require that hazing be reported to the authorities under Safe School laws. Do you really want this kind of media attention and distraction?
