Ready For Podcasting?

Friday March 10, 2006
First it was blogs. Then RSS feeds. Now podcasting. If you are a progressive educator, you will quickly see the possibilities with podcasting.
So, what is podcasting? It's streaming audio to your iPod or other MP3 device. Podcasting works on a variety of popular platforms such as MAC and Windows operating systems. You can download the software you need free.
Gary Stager, who offers workshops on podcasting, describes it as follows:
"Podcasting is the latest innovation to sweep the Internet. In the hands of creative educators, this low-cost low-barrier vehicle for self-expression offers learners the ability to create their own regularly scheduled broadcasts online. Best of all, members of the community can listen to the podcasts at their leisure as new programs are automatically downloaded and installed on their iPod or other digital media player."
Gary's site offers links to most of the resources you will need to make podcasting a reality for your students. Go for it!
