Question: Does Attending Several Schools in Years Past Harm My Child's Chances of Admission?
There's no easy answer to the question a parent posed recently. I thought I'd share her email with you because it poses several interesting issues as far as the admissions process goes. Most importantly, it underscores how important it is for you to have an educational consultant help you position your child and supervise the school selection process.
"In choosing a private school what bearing or effect would it have on a student's application if the student has attended more than one school over two years before the admission process? For example my student went to one school because the student's previous school close, while the student stayed at the new school for two years and then bullying developed and when the second year was completed we enrolled the student in another school in the third year. Now in the third year we are applying to private schools because the current school is not challenging enough and the students at the current school are far behind the student.
Also, what are interviewers looking for? What types of questions do the interviewers ask the student and what answers are they looking for?"
Does any of this sound familiar? Every parent who has decided to send his child to private school wrestles with these and similar issues. Read Choosing a School 101 to help you start the process. Reminder: you need to begin looking at schools now for fall 2007 admissions. Here's a calendar which gives you an overview of the process.
