Ranking Schools

Thursday January 19, 2006
Are you trying to figure out which private school is best for your child? Do you wish you could enter a school's name on PriceGrabber to see how it compares with other schools? Unfortunately you can't really rank private schools. They are, after all, intrinsically unique. Why? Perhaps they were founded with a specific set of pedagological objectives in mind, for example, Waldorf and Montessori schools. Or maybe they chose to promote certain religious beliefs such as found in Catholic or Christian schools. Some schools are large, some small. Some are boarding schools, others just take day students. What I am really saying is that you need to focus on finding the right 'fit' for your child. You'll know it when you see it. Choosing a School 101 will get you started.

Ranking Canadian Schools The Canadians rank schools by results on standardized tests. The data is helpful but only part of the picture.
