Above and Beyond What the Lesson Required

Immersion journalism sounds like a terrific class to take. Much more exciting than studying Warriner's grammar. Farris Hassan, a 16 year old student at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, decided to go to Iraq to do a little first hand reporting on his own. Naive? Definitely. Resourceful. Most assuredly.

Read the story, then have a little chat with your teenagers. It's just fine for them to do their own thing, but they need to understand the consequences of their actions.

Farris: I am so glad that you are alive. Now stay that way so that you can tell your grandchildren about your escapade!
