A former student of
Selwyn House School in Montreal has filed suit against the school alleging sexual abuse by a former teacher. It's the kind of maelstrom which makes a headmaster's blood run cold unless he and his board have developed protocols to handle the inevitable spot of rough water any school is likely to encounter. I won't comment on the allegation. I will comment on the swift and deft handling of the unwelcome publicity by the current Selwyn House headmaster, William Mitchell. He's done the right thing. BTW I remember Selwyn House when it was
Westmount Senior High School. I attended tenth grade in that building before we all moved to the 'new' high school on St. Catherine Street in 1961.
