The response to the disaster in the Gulf states continues to take shape. One of the most immediate problems facing families is where to send their children now that many private schools have been severely damaged or destroyed. With this need in mind please read Dr. Katherine Dimond's plea to the members of ISED-L, the Independent Schools' Listserv. Email me your offer of assistance. I will forward it on to the proper people for you.

We are all too aware of the terrible and increasing difficulties facing everyone in AL, LA, and MS. May we ask you for your special consideration of assistance, if possible. Would you let us know by reply e-mail:

If you have temporary class space for students whose families are seeking shelter away from the affected areas.

If so, please tell us:

1. Number of students in each age/grade you can accommodate
2. For how long
3. If there are costs anticipated for doing so
4. Whom we should list as a contact for further information? Please provide e-mail address and phone number as well.

We will be joining forces with NAIS and regional/state colleagues to set up a link on our web site to show the results. Please feel free to forward this request to any other school you know of that might be able to help. We will post any and all offers of assistance.
